Website Terms

By using kanatago.com, you agree to use the site lawfully and not to interfere with the security or availability of the site. The company portal is provided for informational purposes and may link to separate product sites, app stores, and third-party services.

Unless otherwise stated, all content on this site is owned by or licensed to Kanatago AS. You may not copy or republish site content in a misleading way or imply endorsement by Kanatago AS without permission.

Kanatago App Terms

For iOS users, the Kanatago app terms operate alongside the standard Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Google Play users are also subject to the applicable Google Play terms.

1. Health and safety

Kanatago is a gamified walking experience, not a medical device or medical service. Step totals, distances, routes, and AI-generated content are provided for entertainment and motivation only. Users remain responsible for their own health choices, situational awareness, and physical safety.

2. Virtual route disclaimer

Kanatago routes are virtual representations driven by step progress. They are not real-world navigation instructions and should not be relied on for route safety, traffic awareness, or terrain assessment.

3. User content and conduct

The Kanatago app includes social and user-generated features such as chats, shared routes, avatars, profile photos, memories, memory photos, and memory comments. Objectionable, abusive, discriminatory, threatening, sexually explicit, dangerous, or otherwise inappropriate content is prohibited. Kanatago AS may moderate, remove, restrict, or review content or accounts that violate these rules.

Users can report specific memories, comments, and profile photos inside the app, in addition to reporting user accounts. Content reports are reviewed for community safety, legal compliance, and app store policy compliance on both iOS and Android versions of the app.

4. Paid features

The app may offer subscriptions and consumable purchases for premium features, social features, storage-backed features, and AI-related features. Subscription billing, renewal, cancellation, refund handling, and purchase history are generally managed through Apple, Google, and related payment tooling rather than through kanatago.com.

5. AI-generated content

Kanatago may use AI to generate Local Lore, Journey Stories, StoryTime recaps, Trail Duel gameplay content, and related features. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, repetitive, ambiguous, or fictional and must not be relied on for factual, educational, or professional use.

6. Warranty and liability

The service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis to the maximum extent permitted by law. Kanatago AS disclaims implied warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the service.

Data we process for the Kanatago app

  • Step-related data from the device source the user chooses, including device motion sources, Apple Health, or Garmin Connect, used to power virtual progress and related gameplay features.
  • Limited physical location data when needed to center maps or start custom routes, but not continuous background GPS history for virtual progress.
  • Virtual route context used for AI features, without sending real-world GPS history to the AI provider.
  • Account data such as email, username, and platform identity providers used for sign-in and account management.
  • User-generated content such as routes, chat messages, avatars, memories, and uploaded images.
  • Opt-in analytics events used to improve the product without using health data, usernames, or real-world coordinates for analytics.

Third-party services

Depending on enabled features, Kanatago may rely on Supabase, Mapbox, Google Gemini, OpenWeather, RevenueCat, Apple Authentication, Expo Application Services, PostHog, and Garmin. These processors are used to operate the service, not to resell user data.

User rights

Users may request access, correction, deletion, portability, and withdrawal of consent where applicable. The most complete, app-specific rights explanation is maintained on kanatago.app/terms.html.

Account Deletion

The Kanatago app supports in-app deletion and a public no-login deletion request path for users who cannot access the app. The public instructions are available at https://kanatago.app/account-deletion.html.

That page explains who can request deletion, what app-account data is deleted, what may be retained for legal, security, or financial reasons, and how long a manual deletion request may take once identity is verified.
